This was a wonderfully told story and the animation was absolutely brilliant. Even better than the actual movie were the special features which go behind the scenes to explain the careful research that went into telling an authentic history of Polynesia, an area of the world rich in culture that is often overlooked. Lin-Manuel Miranda's lyrics are absolutely wonderful and he adds a hip hop beat to every song. The music is amazing, from Maui's 'You're Welcome' (sung by Dwayne Johnson) and 'How Far I'll Go', beautifully sung by newcomer Aul'i Cravhalo, in addition to the song 'Shiny', an obvious tribute to David Bowie. Just one caveat...this movie may not be suitable for very young viewers or children who spook easily. There is a character towards the end Te Ka, and she is a little terrifying.
