A sequel that is easily the equal of its predecessor, this one set during the Great Plague of London that ultimately killed one in five of the city's residents. Of that first book, I wrote:

"A gritty historical setting, a murderous cult, puzzles and codes to decipher, and explosively destructive science, all packaged within a fast-paced mystery that keeps the protagonist and readers off-balance. I'm requesting the sequel as soon as I finish writing this review. Definitely recommended."

Replace the cult with potentially fraudulent plague doctors and cures, and all of that applies just as much to this one, which I couldn't put down. I'm ready for book three.
