I started reading the book form of this, and enjoyed it, so requested the audio book. I am disappointed in the audio so far, because it just doesn't sound genuine. I was surprised to discover that the author is the one narrating the audio book, because it sounds like the narrator is reading someone else's work. While there are some good points in the book, there is also a lot of fluff. I am going to read or listen to her next book too, but I do think this one was over-hyped.

It was hard to get through after the chapter where she describes a painful abusive relationship only to reveal that the abuser is now her husband. But I kept going--all the way to the fat-shaming chapter, because who doesn't want to be told that you're the reason everything is going wrong in your life?
If you're a straight, white, affluent woman with a husband and kids--then this book is written for you. But I still wouldn't recommend it.

Read by the author. An inspirational (audio)book. Her enthusiasm and humor keep it interesting and educational.

I had seen quite a few friends reading this book and I wanted in. I listened to a few podcasts that Rachel had been on and every time I heard her speak I would shake my head and say "YESSS" to many of her topics. Unfortunately her book isn't available at our library, but when I was on YouTube the other day I saw that the audio version of it was there so I decided to give it a listen. I really appreciate the way that this book is set up. She starts each chapter with a lie that she believed, shares some examples about how they played out in her life and then three real life applications on what helped her get past these lies. Like she mentions, she is not there to be a cheerleader or someone to just pass on positive quotes, she is there to push you to become the best you that you can be because she knows you deserve it. Although she writes for a Christian publisher, she touches on topics that can sometimes be seen as taboo - like sex, mental illness, suicide, etc. Rachel is a strong, badass woman who believes you can be one too - but you've gotta fight for it! I would give it an 8 out of 10.

I like this girl's style. I definitely recommend this one to the women who feel like they might be lying to themselves or putting themselves down.

I didn’t know who she was when I got the audio. From the Intro, I thought she was a 22 yo wanting to give self help advice to teenagers. Then in chapter 1 she states she’s a mom of 3, hubby is some Big Wig (and they attend the Oscars), she’s a Christian and she’s a Social Media Influencer. The only part I got correct is that she wants to give self help advise and each chapter is about overcoming a Lie. ie...the Lie? I’m a terrible writer. the Lie? I’m bad at sex.
While her examples put her in the best light and of course there’s the mentions some form of social media. Ugh.
