Put plain & simple - This 1969 French Rom/Com stank, big-time.

Director, Francois Truffaut must've really taken his audience for a bunch of dizzy idiots to foist this demented junk on them.

Filled-to-overflowing with preposterous situations - "Mississippi Mermaid" starred a totally vacant and frigid, Catherine Deneuve who I rank as being one of France's most untalented actresses of all time.

Yep. This movie was a complete waste of time.

After Truffaut was condemned by Godard et al as being a new wave poseur, he must have decided that I'm going to show those snobs that I can make a revised version of "Breathless" that would make the world forget about Godard. So, it was done, and turned out to be one of the worst flops in French cinema. After that, Truffaut had no other option than making schlock movies that would be 100% at home in Hollywood.

You know - I seriously think that this 1969 "WTF!?" French film should be promptly retitled - "The Bad, the Beautiful, and the Boring." - 'Cause, in my eyes, that's all that this wretched "Francois Truffaut" production amounted to.

Filled-to-overflowing with one laughably preposterous situation after another - This, to me, was one of those ludicrous romance stories that literally cried, begged, and pleaded to be spoofed, big-time.

Starring Catherine Deneuve (one of the most vacantly frigid actresses that French cinema has ever produced) - This film's scenes of sexual intimacy were (thanks to Deneuve) some of the most flaccid and non-arousing ever recorded on celluloid.

Put plain and simple - I rank Mississippi Mermaid as being just pure adulterated excrement - Nothing more. Nothing less.
