This Victorian-Gothic novel by the late Timothy Findley was short-listed for the 1995 Giller Prize. Based on the character of his aunt, and set in turn of the century Toronto, the themes of memory and madness make this family story a fascinating read.

I couldn't read past page 29. Too heady for light summer reading.
