I've read most of Charles de Lint and enjoy his stories with young adult characters. My two favorites are this one and Seven Wild Sisters. I' took this book to Tucson and walked on some trails as described in the story. We even came upon rattlesnake on the same trail as in the story. Now isn't THAT special?
Check out the authors latest adult novel, The Wind in His Heart, for more Sonoran Desert magic. It will warm you on those Pacific NW wet, chilly winter days.

What a pleasant surprise! I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did. I’ve liked almost everything from Charles De Lint, but I must say Seven Wild Sisters the book that comes before this one, was definitely not one of my favourites. Although it is part of the Newford series, this story takes place in the Southwest. It is enchanting.
