This historical true crime narrative examines the trial of Henrietta Robinson for the murder to two Irish immigrants in 1853. Drawing upon contemporary press reports, court documents and other primary sources, Adler, the author of several works on early American history, describes the day by day details of the trial and further presents a discussion of the political and cultural issues of the time that fueled the public's fascination with the beautiful and mysterious veiled defendant. The work includes numerous black and white illustrations. An imprint of State University of New York Press. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
