"I'm kinda proud of that one."
“What a joke! Poor little rich girl's fallen in love with the Republic's most famous criminal.”
"Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time."
"June has never looked more beautiful than she does now, unadorned and honest, vulnerable yet invincible."
"I will hunt you down. I will scour the streets of Los Angeles for you. Search every street in the Republic if I have to. I will trick you and deceive you, lie, cheat and steal to find you, tempt you out of your hiding place, and chase you until you have nowhere else to run. I make you this promise: your life is mine.”
Why? You afraid of me or something? Only brave enough to shoot people' s mothers? Page 218 ( could'nt write all of it but those 2 pages were good)

Summary
Add a SummaryA rich-sector girl—June Iparis—and a poor-sector boy—Day Wing—cross paths, as the boy is framed for the murder of the girl's brother.
June and Day are 15 years old and living in The Republic, which is at war with the Patriots and the Colonies. June is a prodigy with a perfect score on her trial, and is on her way to becoming a wealthy soldier, even though she likes to cause a bit of trouble. Day on the other hand failed his trial, and he lives on the street with a girl named Tess as one of the most "annoying" criminals. Their lives have no reason to cross, until June's older brother is killed and Day becomes the prime suspect in the case. June is given the mission of hunting Day down. But, when June finally meets Day, the situation takes a different turn, and they uncover the truth of who really killed June's brother, and to what lengths the republic will go to in order to keep it's secrets.
Legend is a book about a post-apocalyptic world with a ruthless government( the Republic). The government wants to separate the strong from the weak so they have every kid take a Trial to see if they are good to keep around. It follows two 15 year olds who are on different sides. One is a girl named June who is a Trial and Military Prodigy and who's brother has been recently murdered. The other is a Boy who is on the run. He causes trouble with the Republic and is Wanted. In the end they find that they are working together for the same thing.
Legend tells the story of a two remarkable 15-year-olds, Day and June, living on West cost of the United States now known as The Republic. This book instantly reminded me of Aladdin because Day is from a very poor area of The Republic and steals from the rich to help out his family and community. June on the other hand, has grown up in one of the wealthiest areas and has everything she could ask for and a secure future. Their paths suddenly cross after June's brother is murdered during a hospital break-in attempt by Day. The Republic's military uses June's thirst for revenge and has her track Day and bring him to justice. However, June soon finds out her safe world has not been what it appeared to be at all.

Add a CommentLegend By Marie Lu, I first read this book in Middle school for Battle Of The Books, And I instantly fell in love with it, I have read it over 6 times, I absolutely love this book, and it is one of my #1 favorites!
Legend is a 2011 dystopian young adult novel written by American author Marie Lu. It is the first book in the Legend series followed by Prodigy, Champion, and Rebel. Legend is set in a future flooded, fortified Los Angeles, ruled by the totalitarian Republic. The novel centers around Day and June, two 15-year-olds on opposite sides of the economic spectrum. I loved reading this book because it is very action packed and once you start reading it you never want to put it down. I would recommend this book to teens 13 and up. Rating: 4.5/5 @PrettyKitty of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
So much like the Divergent series. If you liked it, you would like this. Excited to read the next one, as this one leaves you hanging!
Legend is a great novel with an action-packed plot and cool characters. Although the story was a bit slow at times, it is well written and suspenseful, making it an engaging read. It’s quite similar to Hunger Games but certainly has its own twists. Overall, a great read!
Legend by Marie Lu is a young adult dystopian novel featuring two fifteen year olds, a boy and a girl, who are opposite sides of power and privilege. They are both brilliant. The novel is action packed. I am sure it will appeal to many in its target age group
In the future, the United States separates into two countries: the Republic and the Colonies. When someone in the Republic turns 10, they take a test to determine what kind of job they will get.
June is fifteen years old and got a perfect score on her test. She was born into one of the wealthiest families in the Republic and is being trained to be in the Republic's highest military circles.
On the other hand, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But Day only steals for his family's survival. When June's brother, Metias, is murdered, Day becomes the prime suspect.
This story is captivating and leaves you wanting a sequel.
In a futuristic North America, there are two warring nations. The Republicans, and the Colonists, there is also an additional group called the Patriots. Day is labeled a criminal because he rebelled against the Republic. He likes to help people more than harm them, he just happens to do it illegally. June's brother is killed by Day and she will do what ever it takes to get her revenge. As a soldier she has more advantages than Day, these help her find him.
As she searches for him the Commander and her team erase all trace of Day's past. June finds his Trial test records that say he got way under 800, but all his answers are correct. She's not the only one who got the full 1500 points now. Soon she discovers that Day isn't her enemy. They both have a much stronger enemy.
One of the best books I have every read. Truly great and enticing, I would recommend it to anyone who loves a romantic and thrilling book. If you do, look no further because this trilogy is one of the best ones you'll ever find. Great job Marie Lu, your series The Young Elites, was also an incredible trilogy. I truly admire your work. Keep it up! It reminds me of Matched!
This 4 book series is fantastic. It felt like I was watching a movie or even right there in the characters heads. Excellent writing that keeps you on the edge, unable to put it down.
Pretty mediocre dystopian novel. Maybe the second is better?
